Politics

Another item on the National Assembly session preliminary agenda expected to spark fear debates in Parliament is the bill on guarantees for legal entities’ depositions in banks.

It is known that Land of Law, one of the ruling Coalition parties, won the election on a platform promising to return people their soviet-era deposits while Republican Party heading the Coalition was opposed to that from the very beginning finding it impossible to appease depositors at the expense of cash-starving state budget.

According the bill deposits will be given back two years after approving it.

National Assembly’s financial commission is sure public confidence toward bank system will run high after adopting the law.

Armenia has already made a contract with German Bank, which pledged to invest 3,5 million USD in specially created Fund for Deposits Return.

The parliamentary financial commission came to accord Friday to postpone the decision on putting the issue on the agenda for 30 days.
