IRAQ-RELATED ISSUES DISCUSSED AT PACE SESSION

On Thursday, issues related to the situation in Iraq was discussed at PACE session in Strasbourg.
Tana de Zulueta, who represents Italia in PACE, speaking on the UN No 1546 resolution, said PACE commission on political issues wanted the UNO to undertake a leading role in the process of the resolution fulfillment.
Greek delegation member Elza Papadimitiou thinks the EU has sufficient capability to help Iraq.
All speakers united in saying that “Iraq must be given back to Iraqi people”.
Renzo Gubert said all possible efforts have to be made to enable Iraqis to run their country and control oil industry.
PACE delegates attached great importance to equality in the world saying some superpowers must be prevented from upsetting it.
