KARABAKH MUST PARTAKE IN THE NEGOTIATIONS
Support A1+!”Nagorno Karabakh has never been in the composition of independent Azerbaijan and has nothing in common with Azerbaijan”, the statement made by Robert Kocharyan in PACE obviously outraged the Azerbaijani journalists who overwhelmed the Armenian President with questions during the press conference.
Each of them posed 3 questions at least regarding only Karabakh. One of them even asked how Kocharyan was going to continue the negotiations with Azerbaijan after saying all that. Moreover, how could the President of a democratic country be proud of his participation in Karabakhi War and partook in separatist actions against a neighboring country.
Kocharyan said he could cite the names of many democratic states whose presidents have partaken in hostilities, are proud of it and the nations appreciate that. “Your argument is not convincing. I wasn’t just a private soldier. I was involved in significant operations. I am really proud of the responsibility I bore”, Kocharyan said.
An Azerbaijani journalist remembered that Nagorno Karabakh is an unrecognized republic. “If Karabakh is not recognized now, it doesn’t mean it will never be”, Kocharyan said.
”So, do you neglect the standpoint of the international society?”, the Azerbaijani journalist kept pressing. “I won’t answer your question since it is not correct. If you were a man I would answer. But as you are a woman I won’t venture to do that”, Robert Kocharyan said adding Armenia has said “Yes” to 2 recent suggestions over Karabakh and Azerbaijan said “No”, so Azerbaijan is the one to neglect.
According to Robert Kocharyan, Karabakh must be a negotiating part or else there will be no progress in the process. Kocharyan thinks the Azerbaijani side finds that Karabakh’s participation indirectly means recognition of its independence and that’s why Azerbaijan doesn’t agree.
