ARMENIAN LAWMAKERS UPHELD CONTROL CHAMBER REPORT

Politics

On Tuesday, National Assembly members discussed the Control Chamber Monday’s report on implementation of different programs in 2003, which find out a number of illegalities in budget, tax, customs, public health and financial spheres.

National Assembly Vice-Speaker Vahan Hovhannesyan said at today’s parliamentary session that the report, if upheld by the parliament, would let the Speaker submit the facts the report contained to proper institutions and Prosecutor Office.

In his opinion, the facts of using forged papers and forged signatures in some interactions will attract the Prosecutor Office Anticorruption Department attention and the wrongdoers might be prosecuted.

MP Mher Shahgeldyan, reacting to the fact of credits aimless wasting, said “the future generation that will inherit the burden of these debts has a right to know truth about that”.

MPs decided to refrain from strong wording and abuse or illegalities definitions replacing them with mitigated violation. At the same time, the majority of the lawmakers think the offenders must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
