TIGRAN TOROSYAN IS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT FUTURE

Politics

Armenian National Assembly Vice-Speaker Tigran Torosyan, who headed Armenian delegation to PACE session held last week in Strasbourg, said Monday what happened at the session threw Armenia one step back.

A resolution has been adopted at the session, in which Armenia is obliged to settle domestic political turmoil till the next PACE session in September, otherwise, its CE membership will be called into question.

Torosyan expressed regret over that, but said the things still can be put right. If no, the republic will find itself in more complicated situation, he said.

He didn’t specify why Armenia plunged into political crisis and why the republic authorities failed to fulfil their CE commitments. His broadly-worded speech at today’s press conference didn’t provide answer to the question. Torosyan said PACE would express its attitude toward Armenia as a whole, not toward the authorities.
