“VRAM’S LEGS WERE TRAILING ON THE GROUND”
Support A1+!Avetiq Ishkhanyan, member of Helsinki Committee of Armenia, didn’t want to comment on suicide of Vram Galstyan, “October 27” case prisoner for life.
Ishkhayan was one of the firsts who was informed about the suicide. He was invited to “Nubarashen” jail where Galstyan had been. Representatives of “Civil Society Institute” and International Committee of Red Cross arrived at the scene.
According to jail head Khachik Sargssyan, the jail inspector told that Vram Galstyan had asked him to open the jail window to refresh the room. Then he had asked to close the window. After calling Galstyan twice the inspector opened the door and found Galstyan hung.
Under Vram Galstyan’s application on April 13 he had been taken to solitary cell. “I can’t deal with other cellmates”, Galstyan stated in the application.
Samvel Hovhannissyan, head of Jail Department, informed those present that “Vram Galstyan had made suicide attempts the years in their jail”.
”When the door opened, we saw Vram Galstyan hung on a sheet. His legs were trailing on the ground”, Avetiq Ishkhanyan says.
Ishkhanyan didn’t say whether there were violence marks on Galstyan’s body. He said he had seen the body at a distance.
