ARMITAGE HEADS TO AZERBAIJAN

Politics

Baku’s 525th Newspaper has quoted Elizabeth Jones, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, as saying at a briefing in Washington ways out of Karabakh conflict will be a key subject of discussion during the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage’s visit to Armenia and Azerbaijan.

We want to get familiar with region’s public opinion and find ways to support the OSCE Minsk Group’s activity, she said.

Speaking on Armitage’s visit to Baku scheduled for March 26, 27, Elizabeth Jones said cooperation in struggle against terrorism, political and economic reforms are put on the visits agenda among other issues.

She noted that this is the first time since Ilkham Aliev’s election such a high-level delegation has visited Azerbaijan.
