PUBLIC TELEVISION PRESENTS REPORT
Support A1+!Today, Alexan Harutyunyan, the chair of the directorial board of the state-owned Public Radio and Television Company, presented the 2003 report on the company’s activity to Armenian lawmakers in favorable and cozy environment created by absence of the opposition MPs who keep boycotting parliamentary sessions.
Alexan Harutyunyan found the company’s activity successful putting great emphasis on the fact that beginning from 2003 residents of Australia, New Zealand and Latin America had been given the opportunity to watch the channel.
The company intends to install digital equipment by 2008, Harutyunyan said and added that only 175 million of 2 billion drams allocated by the government are being used for producing programs, 1 million 370 drams are being paid to Communications Ministry for services rendered and the rest sum is being given to two offshore companies for retransmitting Public Television’s broadcasts.
Five MPs asked questions. Only one of the questions put to Harutyunyan was not so pleasant. It was rather remark than question: Manuk Gasparyan after praising the channel’s programs noted that opposition-minded politicians’ speeches are being shown in Aylur news program after merciless reduction while given polar-opposite approach is seen toward pro-governmental politicians.
Orinats Erkir party’s MP Artak Arakelyan glorified the channel saying it displays pluralism and tolerance for different opinions and airs all views.
