EUROPE CONSIDERED KOCHARYAN AS LEGITIMATE?
Support A1+!From July 5 to 9 Parliament Vice-Speaker Vahan Hovhannissyan and “National Unity” Chair Artashes Geghamyan took part in the annual sitting of OSCE PA in Rotterdam, Holland.
Mr Hovhannissyan faced serious difficulties at that sitting. Just at the first sitting Italian Spokesman on the elections in Armenia Giovanni Kesler left no stone standing when introducing the democratic character of Armenia. But “Kesler made no suggestion over applying sanctions or causing any difficulties to us”.
Hovhannissyan talked about the speech of Geghamyan with regret. Geghamyan had talked twice. He had accused the European partners of being gentle towards Armenia, then he said the illegitimate power is playing into the hands of the Europeans. “He was right on the whole”, Hovhannissyan said.
Hovhannissyan’s standpoint over the presidential elections was sensational: “Robert Kocharyan was elected, and the Europeans accept it”. He is sure he did everything in Parliamentary Assembly to save the image of our country. When the Azeris accepted Geghamyan’s speech as a flag and compared Robert Kocharyan with Saddam Husein, Vahan Hovhannissyan delivered a counterblow just at the sitting, saying: “Where is the Azeri Opposition? It is in prison” .
Mr Hovhannissyan had been sincere with the Europeans. “But is must not prevail the interests of Armenia and the Armenian people”. Hovhannissyan thinks, the worst we can expect from the Europeans, is that ”they may deprive us of some grant or political support”.
