PARLIAMENT VICE-SPEAKER DOESN’T DISCLOSE THE FUTURE PARLIAMENT SPEAKER
Support A1+!“At the sitting of PACE Bureau the issue on the 2 last elections in Armenia was discussed, and it was decided to introduce that issue only within the bureau activity, i.e, PACE alone won’t refer to our elections” , Parliament Vice-Speaker Tigran Torosyan has told today in National Press Club.
According to him, our only problem with CE is capital punishment. Torosyan stated deadline for abolition of death penalty changed, “the end of the year instead of June”.
He has today avoided commenting on the rumours over the candidates for Parliament Speaker. Journalists wondered if there is any arrangement “at super posts” on who the Parliament Speaker is to be. Who is more preferable for the republicans, Arthur Baghdasaryan from Land of Law or Artashes Tumanyan from “Dashnaktsutyun”?
“We haven’t held any discussion over whose candidature is more preferred to us. It’s ridiculous when people lionise themselves” , Mr Torosyan said.
Torosyan didn’t dwell on who he meant among the names stated. “I would like not to talk about names or versions” , he added. ”How do You treat the possibility over Arthur Baghdasaryan or Hovik Abrahamyan to become a Parliament Chair”?, Torosyan was asked. “I wonder why you figured out those two” , he answered instead.
He told he hadn’t taken part in the negotiations over the candidatures. “I don’t care about the personalities, principles are more important” , he said.
“Is the political power, which is to be at the post of the Parliament Speaker, determined?” , journalists asked him. “First the principles must be made more accurate” , he replied.
