It’s a citation from the statement of “National Unity Vow” social and political organisation. Organisation representative Rafael Hambardzumyan held a press conference to introduce it to the public.
He explained all what “authoritative body” meant. It turns out that it is the National Council to be formed as a result of unity of 3 presidency candidates – Kocharyan, Demirchyan, Geghamyan.
He says their organisation unlike the other political ones, doesn’t call upon rallies or revolution, doesn’t demand for the president’s resignation. It just makes a structural suggestion, i.e, to set up a national council.
Journalists wished to make the issue more serious, quoting Constitution, which makes no provision for such self-activity. The most important is that Kocharyan might not govern with his clan.
As to the clans, which were not made public, they have slipped into Parliament through fraud and election bribes.
The president of Armenia has greatly abetted forming “Tangled council of uninformed elements” by ratifying the faulty Electoral Code . Rafael Hambardzumyan considers the party having gained the most of votes as “discredited and humiliated” one.
At the end he read out the last chapter of the statement: “Headed by any authoritative and widely accepted individual and with participation of the persons having held the 2nd and 3rd places in the first round of the presidential elections, the president is establish a national council, to transmit his commissions to that body, which is to conduct new parliamentary elections with the reformed Electoral Code” .
