JOHN ORDWAY SPEAKING AT PRESS CONFERENCE

Politics

“What is done, is done”, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Ordway said at today’s press conference concerning election irregularities and vote fraud taking place at presidential elections.

Despite this, the U.S. Ambassador expressed hope that approaching parliamentary elections can be held in accordance with international standards, which is to be favourable for Armenia’s reputation in the international community opinion.

Mr. Ordway intends to visit polling stations as an observer on May 25. He finds it important to cover election campaigning process. The Ambassador fixed either positive or negative changes in covering parliamentary campaigning compared with presidential. In his opinion, state-run Public Television shows more unbiased stance than independent media outlets.

John Ordway keeps meeting with political activists. He has already met Dashnaktsutyun, Republican and “Orinats Erkir” parties’ activists and “Justice” alliance representatives Vazgen Manukyan and Stepan Demirchyan. Not only the country reputation but also financial assistance expected from the U.S. depends on the way upcoming parliamentary elections pass.
