CONSTITUTIONAL COURT CONSIDERING STEPAN DEMIRCHYAN’S SUIT
Support A1+!Hearing on Stepan Demirchyan’s suit against Central Election Commission is resumed today at Constitutional Court after a day-long break. People party activists staged a picket before the courthouse to express their support to the party leader Stepan Demirchyan.
Shortly after the hearing has begun, Demirchyan supporters stopped picketing the courthouse.
The Demirchyan’s complaint consisting of 19 volumes (1,700 pages) challenges vote results at about 400 polling stations of the country. People Party leader insists that the second round results were falsified.
Lawyer Ashot Sargssyan and MP Victor Dallakyan are the plaintiff’s attorneys.
Deputy Justice Minister Tigran Mukuchyan and Deputy CEC Chair Genrikh Abrahamyan represent the CEC.
The CE Commission three experts arrived in Yerevan to watch the legal proceedings. The OSCE Observation Mission members - Richard Chambers, UK, and Maria Fariaella Laox, Italy, - are watching the process as well.
Victor Dallakyan read the statement mentioning a huge number of illegalities committed by presidential candidate Robert Kocharyan and the CEC during election campaign in a clear breach of Electoral Code.
Then, the court started putting questions to the plaintiff, Stepan Demirchyan.
