OPPOSITION LEADERS SPEAKING AT RALLY

Politics

The opposition leaders decided to refrain from demanding Kocharyan’s resignation until Central Election Commission releases final results of counting. They only demand to dismiss the chair of Central Election Commission Artak Sahradyan for tolerating fraud.

It was spoken at the rally about innumerable election irregularities. Grigor Harutyunyan, the head of Stepan Demirchyan’s electoral headquarter, presented evidence of ballot box stuffing, vote fraud and intimidation of voters.

MP Arshak Sadoyan said the authorities make every effort to retain power. But they are already on the brink of collapse.

MP Shavarsh Kocharyan said a gap between Karabakhi and Armenian people emerged thanks to president Kocharyan. In his opinion, this gap will disappear along with current president.

Former presidential candidate Aram Sargssyan informed the rally participants about a number of military units brought to the capital from the republic’s different provinces. “The army should defend borders”, he said.

The next rally is scheduled for February 26.

Stepan Demirchyan, Kocharyan’s key rival in presidential elections, was the last speaker at the meeting.

“I’ll be guided by the sense of commitment toward people. Today, people are insulted. That’s why they come here. We will keep pursuing our goal only by legal means”, he said.
