AUTHORITIES TRYING TO CRACK DOWN ON CIVIL UNREST
Support A1+!Armenian capital’s central avenue is overcrowded today. Thousands opposition supporters gathered in the square in front of Yerevan’s history museum a day after Kocharyan said he would tolerate no actions upsetting public order.
Buses carrying people from Armenian town of Armavir were stopped by police en rout to Yerevan and barred from reaching the destination, opposition activist Vardan Khachatryan said speaking at the rally.
Residents of Vayots Dzor province villages of Gndavaz and Malishka came to the rally on foot. “Let’s welcome them”, Khachatryan urged people. Artashat-Yerevan rout buses were stopped as well.
It was said at the rally that Ashtarak’s police arrested local TV cameraman after breaking his camera.
The cameraman was shooting how the police forced out of buses the passengers headed for Yerevan.
All roads to Armenia’s capital were closed.
