DEMOCRATS HAVE THEIR COMMON CANDIDATE

Though the expiry for office rejection passed, one more presidential candidate, Aram Sargssyan, leader of Democratic Party of Armenia announced about his backing up another candidate for presidency, People’s Party head Stepan Demirchyan.

It was difficult for democrats to make a decision like that as they aimed to go up to the end. But the ideology was much more important for them in the matter of forming power of national agreement. As a result of talks agreement was reached with Stepan Demirchyan and Aram Sargssyan. Negotiations were delayed by technical reasons, so democrat Aram Sargssyan didn’t manage to reject his nomination.

“Stepan Demirchyan has always made right decisions and never faced a case to account for any of them. He succeeded to keep the party, prestige and being respected by the people. It is necessary for the country president to be able to make exact decisions at the decisive moments. One person can’t hold the whole politics on his own. A team is needed for it” , Aram Sargssyan explains his trust to Demirchyan.

Aram Sargssyan considers it as a right strategy that there can be many common candidates of Opposition parties and not one.

“A common candidate could be formed if we were sure all the surprises would be excluded. I think it is much more important that people themselves determine the common candidate” , he says.

Democrats think they have made a right decision while choosing their common candidate. Under the forecast by democrats, the present strategy of Opposition gives a chance to one of the candidates to win a victory in the first phase. But they also say it may well be that a second phase holds. The second phase will be conducted between 2 Opposition candidates.

“We will do our best for Stepan Demirchyan to win in the first phase” , Aram Sargssyan announces.
