MOVSES SHAHVERDYAN SPEAKS ABOUT HIS FURTHER ACTIONS REGARDING ELECTIONS

Movses Shahverdyan, Chairman of Armenia’s Socialistic Party, has at last orientated himself after long efforts. He has decided to second “National Unity” Chair Artashes Geghamyan at the coming presidential elections basing upon 2 - Geghamyan has a program for social development and he will control October 27 disclosure . It is surprising that Shahverdyan prefers Geghamyan to Stepan Demirchyan as more suitable for October 27 disclosure. “He is a third side, a neutral one, and won’t be partial for the crime exposure” , he says.

It is to be sated that Mr Shahverdyan doesn’t care of who from Opposition will become the president. “I respect Stepan Demirchyan very much and I’m in good relations with him. I’ll be very glad if he becomes the president” .

Shahverdyan thinks in the Opposition field Artashes Geghamyan and Stepan Demirchyan have equal potentialities . He also says no candidate will have a chance to get 50 %of votes in the first phase since the common candidate hasn’t yet been formed.

Movses Shahverdyan seconds Artashes Geghamyan, but in the second phase he will back up the candidate in Opposition, having won the most of votes.

“One must not frighten people. All the actions of Authorities are intolerable. The frightened people can’t either defend their homeland. It is dangerous in the conditions of cease-fire when there is danger for war to re-begin every moment” , he says.

Besides he says, the president must act like USA president Nickson in 1970’s. He resigned and proved the accusation to him to be baseless before the Court.

“If the president-in-office had a state manner of thinking, he would reject his nomination at people’s demand” , Shahverdyan says.

“Who do You see as the common candidate – Stepan Demirchyan or Artashes Geghamyan?” , Shaverdyan was asked. “We will second the one who is the common candidate” , he answered.
