ARMENIAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY PUT UP ITS CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Support A1+!Today, Armenian Democratic Party held its 5th congress. The party chair Aram Sargsssyan analysed the situation in the country in his 30-minute speech.
In his words, nowadays, bellicose mediocrity dominates in the republic: many brains have left their motherland to find work. Mass migration surged at a frightening rate, he said.
Sargssyan expressed his concern about social injustice quoting UN experts as saying “Armenia is the first country in the world where incomes are distributed unequally”. It is so, because a group of burglars rules the country, the speaker says, and Robert Kocharyan is excellently aware of who evade taxes and enjoy monopoly. “He merely turns blind eye to tax evasion, as he reaps the fruits of it”, Sargssyan said.
The Democratic Party leader also spoke on the foreign policy pursued by the republic leadership. In his opinion, there is not any foreign policy at all. Foreign strategy should be worked out taking into consideration the country security.
Speaking on privatisation, Sargssyan said it was unacceptable to give Armenia’s economy pivot to another country. Actually who controls economy imposes also certain policy on the republic: who pays the piper calls the tune.
To strip criminal tycoons of their power it is necessary to fight against them by united forces, he said speaking on shady dealing.
Today, the party announced its candidate, Aram Sargssyan, for presidential election.
The leader of the Union for National Self-determination Paruyr Hayrikyan spoke at the congress as well. His speech was quite unexpected, taking into account the fact that, so far, he hasn’t take seriously the 16 opposition parties' union saying they united not for idea, but for purpose. Now he changed his opinion and, perhaps, wants to join the alliance or cooperate with it. However, the parties’ leaders say they have little confidence in his recent activity.
