MAY THERE BE “TRANSPARENT” ELECTIONS IF FRENCH LIMPID BALLOT-BOXES?
Support A1+!Today Central Electoral Committee couldn’t decide what the ballot-box for presidential elections in 2003 will be like.
Under the draft, introduced by Zaven Pluzyan, the representative of National Unity in the Committee, the ballot-boxes are to be the same and made of limpid material.
Artak Sahradyan, Chair of CEC announces to be for the limpid boxes but there are financial problems. Voting papers are to be put in envelopes if elections with pellucid boxes. Under the calculation by Committee Chair, 250 million drams are necessary for envelopes only. Boxes are to be made of organic glass and one limpid box costs 100 $ or 58.000 drams .
Government envisaged 10.000 drams per box. There are 2.200 polling stations in Armenia. It makes a crack of 66. 000 $ .
Artak Sahradyan recalled only France to have carried out elections with limpid ballot-boxes. He suggested Pluzyan to look for finance sources. Pluzyan said the ballot-boxes, already used in France, could be asked for to carry out such “transparent” elections in Armenia.
Pavel Edigaryan, other CEC member from Opposition assumed to make more accurate if there is possibility to make an order for cheaper limpid ballot-boxes.
