THE ASIAN PRESIDENT OF EUROPE-LIKE ARMENIA
Support A1+!OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is worried with Mass Media condition and speech freedom in Armenia. Today Assembly 12 members met representatives of Armenia' social organisations and Mass Media. The only topic of meeting was:"Speech freedom in our country".
OSCE representatives were particularly interested in "A1+"TV Company fate. "A1+" TV Company chairman Mesrop Movsesyan considered important to inform the delegation that Armenia being the member of European Council, unfortunately, can't regard itself as a member of that "family". "Our president is an Asian virtually. He is close to the spirit of Khan' governing system. Robert Kocharyan thinks that the president's post is eternal",- said "A1+" TV Company chairman.
Mr. Movsesyan directed the representatives' attention to the fact that through banning "A1+" TV Channel from air the Authorities aimed to split the information field but they failed. 17 Mass Media made a disgraceful statement under the pressure. So without resisting they drooped their heads before president Kocharyan thus much more aggravating the atmosphere of fear in the country.
Speaking about democracy, people rights and speech freedom in such situation is ridiculous, to say the least of it",- said Mr. Movsesyan.
