Support A1+!The Armenian president's Press Secretary Vahe Gabrielyan assured that freedom of speech in Armenia is not in danger. He said he often looks through dailies and finds the worst addresses to the authorities. As he says no kind of Mass Media had been supressed including "A1+" TV. He is sure that "A1+" TV has real chance to be restored. He also noted that the president expressed will to meet "A1+" TV staff for commenting the accusations to his address.As the speaker said, Kocharyan had been informed that "A1+" TV sustained a defeat in accordance with the Law and the president wanted to receive "A1+" TV Company staff for one reason only, i.e., to discuss and find out together with "A1+" TV staff what the problem is and to remove all doubts.
The speaker doesn't consider a point at issue the fact that TV and Radio National Commission members have been appointed by the president. " Legally the structure of relieving them of their posts is much more compound. If one can appoint a Commission member and is unable to relieve him or her of their posts, it doesn't mean that one can put pressure upon them",-says Mr. Gabrielyan. Remembering president's sympathy with "Ayb-Fe" News Program by A1+" TV Channel, the speaker noted that he as well sympthized with it.The speaker assured that after the frequencies competition the president didn't tell him if he missed "Ayb-Fe" or not.By the way, when one of the journalists asked the speaker "Will the president leave his post if the people ask him?", the speaker said:" The president had expressed his wish to be re-elected and he thinks that there are issues that can be realized".
