Peace sandwich, herb carpet and polo in Yenokavan
Twenty meters’ long huge peace sandwich with Armenian herbs and different types of cheese wrapped in lavash was presented in Yenokavan community of Tavush marz within the frames of Hay Buys (Armenian plant) festival. It was three meters longer than last year’s sandwich.
According to the assessment of the organizers, lavash symbolizes family, herbs- life and types of cheese- peace. The preparation of the sandwich was accompanied by songs and dances of “Tonatsuyts” folk theatre. This event intended for the development of tourism has been held since 2015. The stalls of the festival offer samples of folk art, taraz, works of cuisine and pottery, Armenian herbal teas, spices, dishes and carpet waving.
“Through this festival we aim at presenting and spreading rich herbal world of Tavush marz, increasing awareness about usefulness and medical importance of herbs, which grow in Armenia, but aren’t well known,” noted Gayane Aghayan, co-founder of Hay Buys Festival.
Gayane Chibukhchyan, co-founder of the Festival added that the festival has educational, informative as well as entertaining significance. “During the master classes held within the frames of the Festival, guests have a chance to make household utensils, drinks from plants, get acquainted with herbal ornaments of Armenian taraz and carpet waving with herbs.”
Ten meters’ long panel called “Colors of Armenia” made of art cloth was new in this years’ Festival. The panel depicted logos of the participants of the festival and illustrations by the guests. At the end of the festival pieces from the cloth were distributed to the participants as ties. “Yenokavan polo” horse show also took place within the frames of the festival. Mikayel Voskanyan with his “TurUp” quartet, violinist Sona Azaryan, DJ Beatman, Puzzle’s 5 peaces band from Ijevan and DJ Hamo performed during the festival.
