Early in the morning journalist of “Civilnet” Arpi Makhsudyan received unwelcomed guests, “When I walked out of the room, I saw four handsome men in our room, who were having a tense conversation with my mother-in-law and father-in-law,” the journalist told “A1+”. Unfriendly foreigners were police officers. Not willingly they explained the purpose of their visit. Arpi tells, “They said that they have operative information that there is a criminal in our house and that they came to search the house. When I asked them whether they had a warrant from the Court for searching the house, they gave negative answer, so I told them that they had no right to search the house. The policeman told me not to tell him what to do, saying that I don’t have appropriate legal awareness.” The policemen in the house of the journalist were looking for a criminal, who, according to their information, used Wi-Fi connection of the flat. Learning that they came by wrong address, Shengavit police department policemen tried to take the journalist’s father-in-law to the police station. “The policemen discussed for a while what to do and decided to leave. They left, saying that they will come back and find out our connection with that person and that we will regret.” Journalist doesn’t want to link the surprising visit of the policemen to her professional activities. But she will not remain inactive. She will report to the police. “The police used unlawful methods, didn’t introduce themselves, when I asked them, they shouted at me, frightened my child, tried to threaten my elderly father-in-law and mother-in-law, tried to take my father-in-law to the police station, and the most important, they left without making a report,” notes Arpi Makhsudyan. Later the police clarified that they didn’t have a purpose to search the house, but they simply carried out operative-intelligence work.
