“I condemn all forms of violence and violations of discipline – be they committed by the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) or some other force,” Mikael Melkumyan, a candidate of the Tsarukyan bloc in the April 2 parliamentary elections, said when commenting on the latest incident in Kuckak village in which the head of the bloc’s campaign office was stabbed by HHK loyalists. Aram Asatryan, head of the Tsarukyan bloc’s campaign office in Kuchak, and one of his friends were attacked near their community on Sunday evening. They were both rushed to a hospital in Aparan. Asatryan was transferred to the Astghik Medical Center in Yerevan the following morning. Some media outlets claimed that the two men were attacked by rival election campaigners from the HHK while the police did not hurry to link the stabbing to the election campaign for the April 2 vote.
