Kiraki: Persons with disabilities continue resisting laws and perceptions (video)
The progressive world, where more than 1 billion people have disabilities, should reach equal opportunities, equal rights. This week’s topic of “Kiraki” (Sunday) program is the problems of persons with disabilities. Armenia ratified UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2010. It guarantees so that the rights of persons with disabilities are respected. As of January 1, 2016, 200 177 persons with disabilities are registered in Armenia, which makes up 6,6% of the whole population. 4% of them are children. During the recent 20 years Armenia has improved approaches towards persons with disabilities and steps directed to the creation of an available environment for them. But majority of these people continue resisting society’s misconceptions and laws. Alaverdi “Ankyun+3” and Kapan “Sosi” TV companied prepared materials for the program. The program hosted Anahit Bakhshyan, Deputy Director of National Institute of Education, and Lusine Sargsyan, Head of Legal Analysis Department of the HRD staff. Watch the video!
