HHK lawmaker: Who says that our candidate received four votes from the opposition camp?
Secretary of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) faction today spoke about the latest elections in Vanadzor and Gyumri cities. Gagik Melikyan dismisses reports about tensions on the election day. “The elections were in line with the amended Constitution. We held fair and transparent elections which were fully in line with international norms. The majority of residents in Vanadzor city voted for the HHK candidate, and opposition candidate Christ Marukyan received most votes from the opposite wing,” Gagik Melikyan said. Speaking about the agreement reached by three opposition force the HHK representative said alliances that do not have ideological basis cannot survive for a long time. “Many say there was a rat race by some oppositionists but I think that we witnessed something that was to happen: people voted for the candidate whose program they found more ambitious. I do not think that the HHK candidate received only four votes from the opposition camp. Who says that he has not received more? I cannot say whether four or six oppositionists voted for our candidate. Do not confuse reality with imagination and gossip, they are absolutely different categories. No one knows who voted for whom.”
