Dallakyan's patience lasted long - Aram Sargsyan (video)
Republican lawmaker Ruzanna Muradyan says local elections in Armenia ‘were a few steps ahead.’ Talking to journalists on Wednesday, the lawmaker said ‘several parties signed an agreement to join in the elections, but something changed on the election day and now they blame the failure on the authorities.’ “It has become a tradition that the loser always tries to put the blame on someone else, while the authorities try to justify themselves for the votes that opposition supporters casted for their candidate,” she said. Chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan says one need not rejoice in the fact that there was a betrayal in the elections. “There was an offer to hold open voting but it was rejected because it was evident that the opposition was going to win. It is wrong to resort to all methods to retain power,” he said. “Betrayal is not a political category. In different periods, the Republican Party formed a coalition government with different parties but they quitted the coalition. Now the representative of a definite political force took a different decision considering the political expediency. Perhaps, the attitude towards the person has changed,” said Ruzanna Muradyan. She added that they need to change the mechanism. People should unite around the idea, rather than persons,” she said. Speaking about Victor Dallakyan’s decision to join the opposition ranks, the Republican lawmaker said she saw nothing extraordinary in it. “Each political figure is free to decide his actions. Victor Dallakyan is an experienced politician, he fully understands his place and actions,” she added. Aram Sargsyan said he knows Dallakyan very well. “I was surprised that he could stay with pro-government forces for such a long time. I do not know what has happened but I must say that he endured it all for four years. His patience lasted long.”
