Karen Karapetyan: The country's economic situation is extremely grave (video)
Lyudmila Sargsyan, a member of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction, addressed a question to the newly appointed Prime Minister of Armenia [Karen Karapetyan] during the traditional question-and-answer session with the Cabinet members. She wondered what definite steps the new PM was going to take and whether he planned any changes in the key personnel. Mr. Karapetyan said there would not be rapid changes. “We plan some steps for the future, and then it will be clear which direction we are going to take our country. Do not expect rapid changes in our economy, we can only say which path we are taking to create maximum favorable conditions. Perhaps, I am making general statements, but I think that a person can feel happy with his income,” he said. Speaking about the possible cabinet reshuffle, Mr. Karapetyan said he was going to form a professional team. “Their party affiliation will not matter as much as their professionalism.” Lyudmila Sargsyan was not satisfied with the premier’s answers. “I was appointed Prime Minister only two days ago. You should understand that I do not have a magic wand; we need to make structural changes in the economy. We should admit that the country's economic situation is extremely grave,” Karen Karapetyan said.
