BHK not to support Samvel Balasanyan
Elections of local self-government bodies will be held in Gyumri and Vanadzor in September. There have been rumors that Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) will support the candidacy of current Mayor Samvel Balasanyan. “I officially announce that BHK will not support Samvel Balasanyan’s candidacy,” said BHK faction lawmaker Mikayel Melkumyan. He added that they have strong territorial structure both in Gyumri and Vanadzor and in the near future they will decide who the preferable candidate is for them. In reply to the question whether the lawmakers, who left the party, aren’t separating the party, Mr Melkumyan answered, “No one can separate the BHK. We are firm, we have strong structures and continue to work.” In reply to the question of “A1+” whether it is possible that one day he will also leave the party, Mr Melkumyan answered, “No, I won’t leave the BHK. To add, I am among the persons, who established the party in 2006.”
