19-year-old Davit Hayrapetyan was destined to become a hero on April 8. The boy with blue eyes is already known not only in Zolakar village of Gegharkunik marz, “There was a movie, Kassandra and Luis David, then I decided to call my boy Davit. Maybe it was a name given by God,” says his mother, Marine Hayrapetyan. She is talking to the photo of her son, recalling his short life starting from cradle. “He didn’t cry even when he was a child,” mother recalls. Until today the family doesn’t know how Davit was killed. They suppose that he was in a tank. “Until now I cannot believe. Maybe I will realize when the days of his army service end and he won’t come back, then I will realize that he is dead,” says Davit’s sister, Diana. Davit is the youngest of four children. During his service he spoke to his sister on the phone almost every day. The last time the conversation lasted longer than usual, “On that day he laughed for an hour. He didn’t want to switch off,” notes Diana. The Hayrapetyans built their house during recent years. Davit lived in that house only a year. The construction activities aren’t over yet. The young man didn’t really like farming, but he took special care of the only apricot tree of the yard. Diana singles out modesty in his brother’s character, “I used to say ‘Davit, come out, communicate with people, many people even don’t know that we have such a boy.’ He used to answer, ‘You don’t know what will happen. You will see what will become of me.” The photo of hero Davit, together with the photo of another hero from their village, Gagik Melkonyan, is at their school. The classroom, where Davit studied, will be soon named after him. At present Davit’s mother has only one desire, “Peace. Let no parent in this world sustain such a loss. Even Turkish mothers shouldn’t lose their children. A Turkish child isn’t to blame… The leaders are to blame.” Watch the video for more! Heros Davit 2
