War cannot “break” fingers of carpet weaver from Artsakh (video)
Even in the morning of April 2 the rhythm of work hasn’t been hindered at “Karabakh carpet” handmade carpets’ factory. “No one can frighten us,” says carpet weaver Nune Avanesyan.
The women don’t voice their feelings; they put them in the fabric. Even at the moment of the biggest outburst of sadness, they convey other fellings through their fingers. “It is love mostly,” she says.
Mrs Nune has worked at “Karabakh carpet” for a year. Her daughter is sitting beside her. In their case the accepted regularity wasn’t maintained. Anahit taught her mother the skills for weaving carpets and rugs. “My daughter is a master,” boasts the mother.
During three years, 20 carpet weavers conveyed the secrets of their craft to 170 people. In addition to Stepanakert, “Karabakh carpet” company has workshops in Shushi, Hadrut, Berdzor cities and Chartar village of Martuni region. In addition to typical Artsakh carpets, carpets of other types and style are manufactured here. Company’s technologist Hasmik Grigoryan boasts; all the activities from the thread processing to knot are done at the factory.
By the way, Hasmik was born in Yerevan. She says that at the beginning it was difficult to understand the dialect of Karabakh; at present she not only understands, but speaks it.
