Proposal of HAK on March 1 rejected
At today’s Government sitting the Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan has presented the Government’s conclusion on the draft on amending the RA law on “Holidays and remembrance days” presented by the NA MPs Levon Zurabyan, Stepan Demirchyan, Aram Manukyan and Gagik Jhangiryan. The abovementioned draft intends to amend the law and commemorate March 1 as Day of Remembrance for March 1, 2008 victims and National Day of Protest against State terrorism and repression. Arpine Hovhannisyan said that in an obvious way the draft is based on political assessments and added that “state terrorism” concept used in the draft isn’t intended according to the RA legislation. Minister Hovhannisyan announced that the Government decided that there are no bases for the approval of the draft and the draft was rejected.
