Republican lawmaker: Mher Sedrakyan did not mean to insult anyone (video)
During today’s parliamentary briefings, Head of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) faction said all HHK ministers who were removed from office would be offered other positions. “There are professionals and discussions are still in progress,” Vahram Baghdasaryan said. Speaking about his party’s cooperation with the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF, Dashnaktsutyun), the HHK official said this is the most appropriate time for Dashnaktsutyun to implement their programs in cooperation with the authorities ‘since their approaches –a switch to the parliamentary form of governance –have become the basis of the new Constitution.’ Speaking about the intimidation against activist Vardges Gaspari, Mr Baghdasaryan said a report has been submitted to the Prosecutor General about the torture and degrading treatment that he receives by the other inmates in his cell. With regard to the disorderly behaviour of his teammate Mher Sedrakyan, who is continually offending journalists and has even called them ‘a herd,’ Vahram Baghdasaryan said Sedrakyan only told them a joke and did not mean to insult any journalist. “His words “Go and clean your ear!” were not addressed to a journalist. I would like Mher Sedrakyan and the journalist to meet and discuss the matter tête-à-tête but as I know the journalist refused to meet him, which I think is normal. We have watched the video and I can assure you that Sedrakyan did not offend anyone. I want to dispel your worries related to the reports that Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is trying to settle scores with Sedrakyan through the press.”
