Only one expression made by Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, that the meeting of the presidents of the RA and Azerbaijan is formal, clearly shows the approach of Azerbaijan toward the negotiations, said Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan in the interview with journalists after the Government sitting by touching upon the meeting of Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev in Switzerland, “It is enough to understand the approach of Azerbaijan’s leadership toward both the cochairmanship and conflict resolution principles. Definitely it is the reason that there has been no progress in the conflict resolution issue during these years. If positive shift isn’t registered in the Nagorno Karabakh negotiations process, new approach will mature or compulsion on Azerbaijan, or simply the NKR recognition process.” He also touched upon the statement of Patriarch of All Russia Kirill that Christians weren’t annihilated in Ottoman Turkey, “Later their press secretary made a comment, as if it doesn’t relate to the Armenian Genocide etc. I think, in any case that statement was very unsuccessful.”
