Hrachya Rostomyan explained why Henrikh Mkhitaryan isn’t included in top ten (video)
Hrachya Rostomyan, Secretary General of the Armenian National Olympic Committee, fully agrees with the selection of top ten athletes of Armenia in 2015. “I agree with the top ten selected by our sports correspondents. As for the fact that Levon Aronian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan aren’t included in top ten, I always remain committed to the belief that when choosing the best ones the sports success and achievements of the athletes must be taken into account. No one can convince me that this year the Armenian national football team has shown fantastic results and we can support Henrikh Mkhitaryan.” Hrachya Rostomyan also touched upon the high place of wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan (he is the second after Armenia’s best athlete Arthur Aleksanyan). “If he won silver medal in Montenegro or Serbia, he would be on the 6th or 7th place in the list. But we mustn’t forget where and under what conditions he won that medal (European Games in Baku- edt.) I think that Mihran Harutyunyan showed a result equal to our world champion.” While speaking about Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games, Hrachya Rostomyan said that at present Armenia has 11 Olympic tickets and 15 new tickets are expected in 2016.
