Chess: Aronian's victory saves Armenian team from defeat
Armenian Men’s Chess Team has suffered another defeat at the European team chess championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. In Round 5, Armenia faced Italy. At first, the team lost to Italy 05:1.5 after Sergey Movsesyan’s unexpected defeat and Karen Grigoryan’s draw. It was Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian who saved the situation beating Daniele Vocaturo and restoring the balance. The game between Hrant Melkumyan and Danyyil Dvirnyy became a decisive one for the Armenian team. Though Melkumyan had a position advantage, he ended the game with a draw. Now the team has 6 points and is 3 points behind the tournament leader - Russia.
