Wrestler Armen Vardanyan becomes world vice-champion

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers failed to win a medal on the second day of the Wrestling World Championships underway in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Armenian wrestlers Roman Amoyan (59 kg), Varsham Boranyan (71 kg), Eduard Sargsyan (80 kg) and heavyweight Edgar Khachatryan dropped out of the competition still in the initiation phase. Armenian-Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Armen Vardanyan (71 kg) made it to the finals where he competed with Rasul Chunayev of Azerbaijan. However, Armen lost to his rival by 4:6 and won silver. Today, Armenia’s Maxim Manukyan (85 kg) will face Russia’s Davit Chakvetadze.
