Alexander Arzumyan: EEU will soon split

In its Monday sitting, the National Assembly began to discuss three treaties on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The treaties were presented by Suren Karayan, Deputy Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms. In his speech, lawmaker Alexander Arzumyan reminded that his fellow colleagues earlier complained that the government promptly submits for discussion bills and treaties and makes the National Assembly adopt them within 24 hours. “Now you are doing the same thing. If our Kyrgyz relatives were so eager to become an EEU member, we could discuss those treaties at plenary sessions.  The EEU is the real pest for us and now we are taking Kyrgyzstan on the same path,” he said. Mr Arzumyan suggested discussing all issues on the agenda in detail. Suren Karayan said in reply that all the international treaties included in the agenda were adopted by the Constitutional Court last week and approved by the government. They were even posted on the government’s website. Alexander Arzumyan said he was going to vote against the treaties.  “I shall vote against any treaty that concerns the EEU. I am sure the EEU will collapse soon.”
