Artush Mkrtchyan participated in liberation of 22 cities (video)
Veteran of the Great Patriotic War Artush Mkrtchyan doesn’t remove the medals from his costume. He says that he has never regretted that once he lied about his age and went to the front. News of the victory on May 9, 1945 has been the greatest happiness of his life. 91-year-old scout participated in many battles and in the liberation of 22 cities. But the liberation of Kiev was the most significant, for which he was awarded the Order of the Red Star. He was wounded in 1943 but fought till the end. Despite the joy of victory, he cannot forget the cruel days of the war. Artush Mkrtchyan remembers his military friends, few of them are alive now. He meets them in Moscow and Kiev, where he has been invited to take part in various parades. He regrets to say that veterans in Armenia aren’t paid such attention, like, for example, in Russia. Artush Mkrtchyan has been invited to live in Moscow for many times. But he always refuses to leave his homeland. Despite little attention by the government, the veteran claims that he isn’t offended. Once he did his work with honor and today he is proud of it.
