The Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) today held a working sitting to discuss the political situation in the country, BHK lawmaker Vahan Babayan told A1+. “The political council focused on the party’s future steps if BHK leader Gagik Tsarukyan is stripped of his parliamentary seat. We also discussed the possibility of starting sit-ins and hunger strikes and BHK lawmaker Aragats Akhoyan’s decision to terminate his membership with the BHK,” said Mr Babayan. Speaking about Karo Karapetyan’s decision to withdraw from the BHK, Vahan Babayan said, “To tell the truth, we learnt the news from the press. Both Akhoyan and Katrapetyan said they were terminating their membership but want to continue to work in the National Assembly as non-partisan deputies.” Asked whether they had been advised to act in that way, Mr Babayan said, “Political processes are underway in the country. The situation is changing hour by hour. Let us wait and see what happens next.”
