Alcohol abuse was the main cause of food poisoning reported during last year's holiday, says Nune Bakunts, Deputy Director of the National Disease Control and Prevention Center of the Ministry of Health. “It is advisable that people moderate alcohol consumption during Christmas holidays. We should create holiday atmosphere and moods and not be tempted by alcoholic beverages,” she said. She also advises using dried fruits and vegetables and limiting the use of meat, fat and heavy food. “When you change your diet, you should adapt your organism to the change gradually, by eating smaller portions.” At the same time she reminds that salads should not be left on the table for a long time. Nor should they be kept in the fridge for more than 18 hours.
