Profit from Sochi 2014 Olymics totaled 5 billion rubles
The profit from the Sochi-2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games amounted to 5 billion rubles ($142.56 million), CEO of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko said on Monday. “The money will go to the development of mass sports in our country,” he said. Chernyshenko said ‘they sold more tickets than in Vancouver,’ for which Canada's Olympic organizers said 1.49 million tickets were sold, 97 percent of the total. The total number of TV viewers - those who saw "even one minute" of Sochi Olympic coverage, according to Chernyshenko - was two billion, 200 million more than for Vancouver.
