YSU accountants pocketed tuition fees
A criminal case has been initiated in the General Prosecutor's Office against two senior accountants of Yerevan State University for embezzlement.
By the materials prepared on the base of the report received from the university rector it was found out that the two senior accountants of the mentioned educational institution, abusing their official positions, breaching the requirements of rector's order, from 2010 to 2012 had taken from university students' tuition fees in particularly large amount, in cash.
According to rector's order N 188&26 making payment in cash has been forbidden since January 1, 2013, including paying salaries, payments equal to it, scholarships, tuition fees and it has been required to make the payments through bank transfer.
The accountants had provided students who had paid tuition fees in cash with cheques confirming the tuition fee payment, however, they had not entered these sums into university pay office squandering a sum of several millions.
A criminal case was initiated on the case according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 and the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 179 of RA Criminal Code.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case was tasked to the Investigation Department of Especially Important Cases of General Investigation Department of Police adjunct to RA government, reports the General Prosecutor's Office.
