More communities in Armenia affected by hail
The villages of Aygehovit, Ditavan and Azatamut in Armenia's Tavush marz (province) were seriously affected by Sunday's hailstorm.
The Department of Agriculture of the local Governor's Office was informed about the damage shortly afterwards. The hailstorm-hit villages do not have anti-hail protection systems.
Some 46 communities in Armavir province were hit by a devastating hailstorm earlier this month. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and several members of the government paid a visit to the affected communities last week. As a result of consultations held with representatives of these communities on Wednesday it was decided that the residents of the communities that incurred damage because of the hailstorm shall be exempted from paying the land tax and those that were partially damaged by the natural calamity shall pay only half of it, with the other half covered by the state. The same principle will apply to the water bill payment. Also, farmers will be provided with seeds, fertilizers and diesel fuel.
