March 3 is writer's international day. This is a chance for the president of Writers' Union Levon Ananyan once again to state, that there is a demand for literature in Armenia. Mostly the authors of the classical literature are demanded- Tumanyan, Narekaci, as well as translated and Armenian fairy tales.

"There is already a crack in the ice of reading crisis, and we should be able to extend this breakthrough", - says Levon Ananian.
Writers' Union unites nearly 500 writers, literary critics and translators from Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora. Writers' Union's annual budget provided from the state is 140 million dram.

Levon Ananyan says that although there is a state funding but till now one of the biggest problems for writers is the honorarium. "Intellectuals are one of the most vulnerable strata and the writer's work should be paid".

The president of the Writers' Union of Armenia also said that on April 15-21 in Yerevan for the first time an international poetry festival will be held, which will herald the "Yerevan World Book Capital" festival closing. "50 famous poets of different nationalities from 30 countries will arrive in Armenia",- said Levon Ananian.

On April, at Mashtots park a Poetry Corner will be opened. The delegated poets from 30 countries will plant trees in the park.
