Arevik Baghdasaryan, 40, has to go begging to feed her underage daughter.

"Wherever I apply for work, they say they do not have vacancies and close doors in my face," she told A1+.

The 40-year-old woman has been begging for food for ten years. She can be mostly seen in the vicinity of churches which has become her main ‘working place.'

The woman says the churches are the most profitable place; there she can earn from AMD 1000 to 10 000 daily.

"I stretch out my hand and people feel pity for me and give me money. We [beggars] do not force people to help us," she said.

Arevik Baghdasaryan today was near the Orthodox Church in Yerevan. "Today they are celebrating their holiday and I came to show my respect for them," she said.

Mrs Baghdasaryan, who is a typist by profession, earns about AMD 300 000 a month and says she could hardly earn the sum, should she find a job as a typist or work around the clock.
