People see the New Year in in 'bourocks'
One can still come across temporary shacks built in Armenia's Gyumri city after the 1926 earthquake. These wooden buildings resemble Soviet-era communal houses in which kitchen and toilet facilities were shared by several families. The ‘bourocks,' as they are called by the locals, were built in several districts of the city at a time.
Shirak Centre NGO has visited a family of four children living in such a shack for more than 18 years.
