Armenian, Azerbaijani FM to meet early in 2013
The Armenian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated on December 6 in the 19th sitting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Dublin. The Foreign Ministers of 57 member states and high-ranking representatives of about twenty international organizations participated in the sitting.
In Dublin, Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Robert Bradtke, Igor Popov and Jacques Faure and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk to discuss issues related to the process of settlement of the Karabakh conflict. At the suggestion of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs, an agreement was reached in Dublin to organize a meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers early in 2013.
Edward Nalbandian also held a number of bilateral meetings. The Armenian Foreign Minister and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zanier exchanged views on the issues on the agenda of the 19th OSCE Ministerial Council, the process of settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the Armenia-OSCE cooperation, the activity of the OSCE Yerevan Office and the programs it implements.
During the meeting with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort reference the officials dwelt on the results of the visit of European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso's visit to Armenia and Armenia-EU cooperation. The EU Special Representative reiterated the willingness of the European Union to support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, implementation of the confidence-building measures.
Edward Nalbandian and President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Riccardo Migliori exchanged views on regional security, the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of cooperation between OSCE member states, the efforts towards resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. With regard to the forthcoming presidential elections in Armenia, Ricardo Migliori said he would personally head the OSCE PA observation mission.
Also, the Armenian Foreign Minsietr had meetings with his Spanish, Italian and Swiss counterparts.
