Man threatening to blow up Harsnakar Restaurant charged
Lieutenant Colonel Vardan Samvelyan, a senior official at the Defense Ministry's capital regiment, who threatened on Sunday to blow up the Harsnakar Restaurant [owned by Ruben Hayrapetyan], has been arrested.
A Yerevan court today upheld the petition of the Defense Ministry's investigative body, sending Samvelyan to two months in prison.
Yesterday evening, a criminal case has been instituted against Samvelyan under Article 235 (Part 1) of the Armenian Criminal Code (illegal procurement and keeping of fire-arm and ammunition).
On July 1, Samvelyan entered the Harsnakar Restaurant complex threatening to blow it up. He was detained after long-run negotiations and taken to a disciplinary prison.
