Armenian FM holds bilateral meetings in Rio de Janeiro
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is in Rio de Janeiro to participate in the UN Rio+20 environmental and sustainable development conference, had a number of bilateral meetings.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Congo, Edward Nalbandian and Raymond Tchibanda, reached an agreement to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries. The two ministers discussed the opportunities of cooperation within international organizations, discussed the preparations for the International Organization of Francophonie summit to be held in Kinshasa, Congo, in October.
Edward Nalbandian's next meeting was with the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Gamini Lakshman Peiris. The interlocutors considered steps to enhance political dialogue, form a legal and contractual framework, boost economic cooperation and develop cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Armenia.
The Sri Lankan official briefed the Armenian FM on the steps addressed to national reconciliation and reforms. An arrangement has been reached between the sides to conduct consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. Lakshman Peiris invited Minister Nalbandian to visit Sri Lanka.
On the sidelines of Rio+20, Edward Nalbandian attended the meeting of the heads of delegations of Francophonie member-states which focused on the agenda issues.
